How to build an agent for rail
You can assemble an agent that follows the rail cycle from start to finish: trains, tracks, yards and delivery, with the record of every stage. These pieces and steps are the starting point, and you assemble them on natuleadan.app, on another platform that connects your equipment, or with open-source pieces, without being tied to a vendor.
The agent works for the rail operation: the operations manager decides which convoys and sections enter the follow-up and with which limits. Tools with restricted access, such as the track or the workshop, are verified on demand when needed and may be subject to other terms and conditions.
How the agent works
The agent receives the position of the trains, the state of the track and the yard progress, and compares them with the configured limits. It decides whether to record, notify or escalate. When a delay or an incident appears, it stops and waits for the manager’s indication before moving the convoy; if the case is critical, it notifies the traffic center. Every event is recorded with time, train and result, and the history makes it possible to reconstruct any trip.
How to use the agent
With the systems connected or manual upload enabled, your routine is to review the train dashboard, handle escalated cases and adjust limits, sections and recipients when the operation changes. The agent never moves a convoy on its own and always escalates the incident. You can pause a section or remove it from the program without losing its history.
Which tools you can connect
Connecting these tools is not just pasting an API: every connector goes through a normalization process so the data arrives in the same format, and the connection type (API, webhook or file), the security rules and the backup are defined. Your team’s infrastructure also comes in: who manages the credentials, where the connector runs and how it is monitored.
In rail, the shipment tracking, the routing and the yards and shifts are connected, in addition to the notice channels to the operations manager and the traffic center, which can be made of people or robots. When the case calls for it, the cargo and stowage, the insurance and claims and the shipment milestones are added to close the history of every convoy, along with the periodic summaries that order the operation.
