How to build an agent for metalworking
You can assemble an agent that follows the metalworking cycle from start to finish: cutting, forming, welding, machining and finishing, with the record of every stage. The agent works for the metalworking plant: the plant manager decides which orders enter the follow-up and with which limits. Tools with restricted access, such as metrology or maintenance, are verified on demand when needed and may be subject to other terms and conditions.
How the agent works
The agent receives the progress of every order, the machine readings and the quality controls, and compares them with the configured limits. It decides whether to record, notify or escalate. When a deviation appears, it stops and waits for the manager’s indication before rescheduling the line; if the case is critical, it notifies the shift team. Every reading is recorded with time, order and result, and the history makes it possible to reconstruct any job.
How to use the agent
With the machines connected or manual upload enabled, your routine is to review the order dashboard, handle escalated cases and adjust limits, machines and recipients when the program changes. The agent never moves a machine on its own and always escalates the deviation. You can pause an order or remove it from the program without losing its history.
Which tools you can connect
Connecting these tools is not just pasting an API: every connector goes through a normalization process so the data arrives in the same format, and the connection type (API, webhook or file), the security rules and the backup are defined. Your team’s infrastructure also comes in: who manages the credentials, where the connector runs and how it is monitored.
In metalworking, the line control, the visual inspection and the metrology are connected, in addition to the notice channels to the plant manager and the shift team, which can be made of people or robots. When the case calls for it, the work orders, the predictive maintenance and the traceability are added to close the history of every lot, along with the periodic summaries that order the plant.
